We're building a new E-Invoicing & Peppol add-on for Order Printer Pro — designed to help you stay ahead of these changes directly from your Shopify admin.
What Is Changing in Europe?
Several EU countries are making e-invoicing mandatory for B2B transactions. The rules are clear: if you sell to a VAT-registered business, your invoices will need to be sent as structured data files instead of PDFs or paper documents.
This is becoming the standard across Europe, and the rest of the world is following this digital trend.
Two Tools in One Add-On
The upcoming add-on provides two distinct capabilities:
1. XML E-Invoice Export
Generate structured XML invoices for any order directly from your Shopify admin. These files use the UBL 2.1 format, an international standard that accounting software can read and import without manual data entry.
What will be included in the XML:
- Full seller and buyer identification (Company name, address, VAT number)
- Complete line items with quantities, unit prices, and descriptions
- Tax breakdowns per line and per invoice
- Totals, currency, issue date, and due date
- Document-level charges or discounts
- Payment terms and references
XML export will be unlimited and available for merchants everywhere, not just in the EU. If your B2B customers prefer data files over PDFs, this tool is for you.
2. Peppol Network Delivery
For merchants in countries like Belgium and the Netherlands where Peppol is the required delivery channel, Order Printer Pro will send compliant e-invoices directly to the network. No separate portal or third-party tools needed.
Supported format: Based on UBL 2.1, aligned with Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 and the EN 16931 European framework.
Use One or Both Capabilities
Many merchants sell B2B but are not in a country with a Peppol mandate. In that case, XML export alone improves the customer experience. If you need Peppol later, it's already included.

What's on the Roadmap
We're also working on CII (Cross-Industry Invoice) XML support. EN 16931, the European e-invoicing standard, defines two official syntaxes: UBL 2.1 and CII. With UBL already covered at launch, adding CII will bring Order Printer Pro to full EN 16931 compliance; ensuring compatibility with markets like Germany and France where CII is the preferred format.
